Self-Care Tools

Self-care is what we do in order to take care of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Taking good care of ourselves helps us feel more connected, happier and present in our lives.

We all have busy lives and it is sometimes difficult to find the time to take care of ourselves.  And thus, we may avoid just the thing that we most need.

One of the best ways to make sure we fit some self-care into our lives is to schedule some time off and make it a priority.

You’d be surprised to hear that only 15-20 minutes of “me time” a day can make a huge difference. Read more on self -care.

Meditation
Meditation is a great way to “check-in” with yourself and give body and mind a break by sitting quietly doing nothing (or trying to!).
If you are new to meditation, keep you sessions short: 10 minutes of daily practice could be enough.  In Mindfulness meditation, the “object” of meditation is the breath. That’s where our attention goes. Most likely than not, after a few minutes, your mind will wander off and forget about the breath altogether. No worries. It happens to everyone and that’s the whole reason why we practice meditation. The idea here is to train the mind to come back to the present moment over and over again. The breath is our tool, our anchor, to come back to the here and now.
